Location Exploration

Location 1:

The first location is in a local field. I like this location as it involves a lot of natural light. Therefore different subjects will be lit well. However I don't think this location would fit with the theme of my music magazine as I am aiming for an alternative style. Another thing I like about this location is the bright colours featured in the background. I think bright colours are attract and audience, However they are not suitable for this genre. Additionally these location would contrast greatly with the props I intend to use. This may make the magazine look unplanned and messy. Furthermore the background is very busy and would make the editing process difficult.

Location 2:

The second location is in the music studio at school. I like this location as it fits well with the idea of a music magazine. This location would be good for each prop and would be attractive towards my target audience. However this location does have low lighting which may affect the picture outcome. This may be fixed in the editing process but could be hard. Another thing I like is the simpleness of the background. If i was to use this location I wouldn't need to edit out the background as it fits the theme.

Location 3:

The third location is  under a bridge. I like this location as it is unique to other things that I have seen before. This location has a simple background but is very boring. Depending on the time of the shoot the lighting could be to dark for my front cover to stand out. However I do like the fact the background is simple. By making it simple my subjects would stand out more. Although I think the props I intend to use would look out of place at this location and not fit the overall theme I am looking for.

After looking at each location I have chosen to use Location 2. This is because it fits the style of magazine better than the others. It's also better for the use of props during the photo-shoot. I like the lighting and the overall scene of this location.

  1. WWW: Excellent analysis of the effectiveness of the locations.

EBI: How can you lay this out (using a different program) to make its presentation even more effective?
