Large Media Company
Bauer are a the largest media company in Europe, the company works in countries such as Uk,Germany,Australia,New Zealand and the USA. In the Uk alone Bauer have over 25million consumers. Some examples of their most popular magazines are Kiss,Heat,Kerrang! and Magic.
Bauer started out making Motor Cycle New in 1953 s as it was a current and popular topic. As music began to get popular Bauer spread to making music magazines as well as branching out to make garden magazines (Modern Gardens) and magazines aimed at women (Women's Weekly)
Furthermore Bauer have branched out to do Radio, this shows that the company is well established and popular. By keeping up with popular trends/topics and the advance in technology, their company has been able to survive and attract more and more consumers which allows them to create more brands
Additionally Bauer own 50% of a British Television company "The Box Plus Network". This network produces music TV channels. This is another large source of income for the company and further boosts the popularity of Bauer. This contributes to the media industry as it shows that a magazine comapny can fuse and brach out with a television company which further helps the brand to improve.

Kerrang!
Firstly the first big brand Bauer have is Kerrang! Which was first published in June of 1981. This is a rock music magazine which is popular among teens and young adults interested in the alternative scene. The name Kerrang! came from the sound made when playing a distorted electric guitar. By doing this the brand is able to stand out and be recognised by those interested in the genre of music. Since the magazine became very popular the brand decided to branch out and do other things such as creating a Radio show. They also began to hold a annual event called the "Kerrang! Awards". This is an award ceremony to recognise the most successful bands of the year. The events are produced by celebrities both in and outside of the industry. These awards and now said to be one of Britain's most recognised events.

Not only do Bauer own music magazine brands, they also own brands that create magazines based on the beauty industry. For example "Grazia" is a popular and succesful beauty magazine that features A-list drama and real life issues. The demographic of this magazine is aimed at women between the ages of 25 - 45. This magazine is widely spread across countries such as South Korea,France, Germany , Uk and many more. Running for over 78 years the magazine reaches as many as 3740,000 consumers a year. Grazia has also branched out and created an app which allows people to read the magazine on their phones. By doing this the company are able to reach more people as technology is quickly taking over. This shows that this brand is well established an able to compete with other brands, whilst still being unique and current.

Future PLC is a small media company that started in 1985. The company has over 500 people working for them across countries such as UK,USA and Australia. This brand creates magazines related to topics such a tech,games,film,photography and music. Overall the company has 200 prints as well as apps and websites. Due to the company being smaller they are more able to work closely with their brands.

Guitarist magazine is a monthly magazine published and owned by Future PLC. It known as the longest established European guitar magazine and has also been named as the biggest and best selling guitar magazine in the UK. The aim of the magazine is to cover three main aspects which are: reviews,interviews and techniques. Each magazine features reviews on guitars and amps. Overall the magazine has a very good reputation within the music community and has been publishing copy's ever since 1984. To celebrate a special event or the age of the magazine, Guitarist do special edition copy's for example : "100 Great Guitar Players" and "The Guitarist Guide To Home Recording". Additionally the brand has branched out to sell digital copy's as online technology is becoming increasingly popular . Copy's of the magazine can now be purchased and downloaded on ipad's and iphone's. This version is becoming popular as the magazine are able to add links and videos to make the magazine more interesting and appeal to a younger audience.

Total Film is a film magazine published by Future PLC and has been publishing magazines since February 1997. The company focus' on cinema,DVD and blu-ray news. Like the Guitarist magazine this magazine is also available for purchase and download on an ipad. This has become the main way of viewing this magazine. In each edition they feature a spotlight interview with an actor or director of a recent popular film. It also features a behind the view scene of sets and how they're created. Spread over the world this magazine is also published to places such as : Turkey,Russia and Serbia. As well as the magazine they also have an iphone app which allows people see links and watch videos related to things in the magazine. By doing this the company are able to engage with different age ranges and reach more people.
